Talks with taste: Supporting CLIL/pluriliteracies teachers through the Language Quadriptych

01Feb

12:15 – 14:00 Uhr|Vortrag

Kirche an der Uni, Gaußstr. 4

Dr. Darío Luis Banegas (University of Edinburgh), Moderation: Prof. Dr. David Gerlach

How can teachers involved in CLIL/pluriliteracies guide and enhance their learners’ academic language competencies so that they can thrive and fully utilise language to make meaning, to make sense of disciplinary content? In this talk, Dr. Banegas will introduce the research-driven Language Quadriptych, which is based on Coyle et al.’s (2010) Language Triptych (language of/for/through learning). The Quadriptych may be seen as a conducive pedagogical tool that incorporates metalinguistic reflection (language on learning) as well as metacognition as another cognitive discourse function. Classroom practices will be shared.

‚Talks with taste‘ is an international event series of the School of Humanities in cooperation with Kirche an der Uni (ESG and KHG Wuppertal). In addition to lectures, interviews and panel discussions, there will be an opportunity to meet and network. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
