Zentrum für verfolgte Künste Solingen

On May 29, 1993, four young men from Solingen carried out a right-wing extremist attack on the Genç family on Untere Wernerstrasse in Solingen. In the fire of their house, Gürsün İnce, Hatice Genç, Gülistan Öztürk, Hülya Genç and Saime Genç were murdered and other family members were seriously injured.

In this year, which marks the thirtieth commemoration of the murder of the five women, the museum Zentrum für verfolgte Künste is telling the story of the family with the exhibition Solingen '93 - Unutturmayacağız! Niemals vergessen! in connection with socio-political and social events. A German history up to our present is emerging.

Together we will go to Solingen to the Zentrum für verfolgte Künste and visit the exhibition.

Good to know:

• We will meet at 2:30 p.m. at the Schwebebahn station "Hauptbahnhof". The journey takes about 45 minutes.

• The exhibition is bilingual (Turkish, German). We will start our visit to the exhibition with a tour with the curator team, which will be in English. In this way we would like to invite and welcome especially those who speak little or no German to get to know the exhibition.

• After the tour, we will take time to reflect on what we have experienced and would like to share perspectives common to the Center for Persecuted Arts and the Education Space.

• Admission to the exhibition is free of charge. The round trip by public transport is included for owners of a NRW-Semesterticket or a Deutschlandticket, all others will have to pay the price of two one-way tickets of 12,80€.
