Dr. Julian Hanebeck

Doctoral researchers often face intense demands: balancing research, teaching, and personal responsibilities while staying motivated and focused. This workshop offers an opportunity to better understand and actively manage one’s own motivation and stress patterns.

In the first part, participants explore key principles of motivation: What drives us to act, and how can we sustain motivation over time? Drawing on classical theories and the empirically grounded 3C Model of Work Motivation (Hugo Kehr), the session introduces practical tools to develop an understanding of one’s own motivational patterns (that differ from those of others) and supports participants to direct energy effectively.

The second part focuses on stress management and resilience. Participants identify individual stressors and response patterns and learn techniques for maintaining focus, stability, and well-being under pressure. Practical exercises support the development of personal strategies to manage challenges more effectively and cultivate resilience throughout the doctoral journey.
