Join us for a conversation on 'Irish Masculinities after Independence', in which Dr. Loic Wright will discuss his recently published book Masculinities in Mid-Twentieth-Century Irish Fiction and Culture, 1931–1965, with Professor Katharina Rennhak. In this conversation, they will explore the construction of post-colonial Irish masculinity, touching on themes such as drinking culture, employment in the civil service, same-sex relationships, and the role of violence in defining masculinity. Their dialogue will offer new insights into the intersection of gender, nation-building and cultural memory in modern Ireland, and provide reflections on recent developments in the field of Masculinity Studies.
