Psychotherapy up close: Public lecture series at the Town Hall Gallery

How do psychotherapists work in an addiction clinic, within the prison service or in psycho-oncology? What does psychotherapeutic care look like for refugees, transgender young people or people with intellectual disabilities? The lecture series ‘Care Models in Psychotherapy’ will explore these questions during the winter semester 2026/27 at the University of Wuppertal. It is organised by Prof. Dr Aleksandra Kaurin from the Chair of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy for Children and Adolescents.

From 19 October, experienced experts from hospitals, private practices, counselling centres and universities will be presenting their fields of work. Using case studies, they will provide insights into their day-to-day professional lives and discuss practical issues relating to professional ethics and law.

The programme ranges from child and adolescent psychotherapy, through psychosomatic care, addiction rehabilitation and psychodynamic approaches, to systemic therapy in group settings. In addition, topics such as affirmative therapy with LGBTQIA+ individuals, discrimination-sensitive psychotherapy and e-mental health – including internet-based therapy programmes and digital health applications – will be covered.

The series is aimed primarily at students of clinical psychology and psychotherapy, but all interested residents of Wuppertal are also warmly invited. The events provide an opportunity for self-reflection, practical experience and professional exchange.

The lectures take place on Mondays from 4.15 pm to 5.45 pm at the Wuppertal Town Hall Gallery (Friedrichstraße 40), with three sessions (7 and 14 December, 1 February) taking place online via Zoom.
