The following information channels and research options on funding opportunities are available to you at the BUW:
Research Funding Newsletter (FoFö-Briefe) - available in German only
FIT Newsletter (Informationsdienst Forschung, Internationales und Transfer)
ELFI (ELectronic Research Funding Information System)
In addition, the Research Funding Office also provides individual advice on funding opportunities, the interpretation of funding regulations, administrative, legal and content-strategic questions regarding the application process, budget calculations, and much more.
Since 2022, the Research Funding Office has been publishing a quarterly newsletter in which we inform you about selected funding opportunities, draw attention to new initiatives or events, and present our own services. Each issue has a particular focus, e.g., on specific subject areas or career stages.
The newsletter represents only a small excerpt of the landscape of third‑party funding options. For further information and advice, please feel free to contact us!
To subscribe to our newsletter, follow this link: Newsletter subscription (only available in German)
You can unsubscribe at any time. Just click “unsubscribe” at the end of the newsletter.
The previous newsletter issues can be downloaded here (German only).
The "Informationsdienst Forschung, Internationales, Transfer" (FIT) is an email service provided by the University of Kassel which offers you targeted and tailored information on research funding and is available to you as a member of the BUW. With your e‑mail address (only BUW email addresses ending in @uni-wuppertal.de are accepted), you can register for FIT and create an individual user profile: you select the scientific fields, types of funding and funding bodies about which you wish to receive information. At a time of your choosing, you will receive an email with the current funding information that is relevant to you.
Click here to go directly to the registration and login pages. Here you will find more information about the FIT newsletter and step-by-step guide for registering with FIT.
If you encounter problems with registration or use, please contact Unit 1.1, Research Services and Research Funding Management: trempeck[at]uni-wuppertal.de
Members of the University of Wuppertal have access to ELFI (ELectronic Research Funding Information System) to carry out their own research for new funding opportunities. ELFI is an online database for searching national, European and international research funding. It is the most comprehensive and up-to-date source of information on research funding in the German-speaking region. The funding programmes are categorised, allowing you to filter and search by 260 research fields and 37 cross-disciplinary topics.
Here is a direct link to the ELFI database. Registration is done via the sign‑up function on this page: Sign in > Create account. This process is only possible if you access the site from the university network. On the ELFI website, you will find instructional videos on registration and database use. For more detailed information on how to use the database, please refer to the ELFI user guide or our ELFI video tutorials.
If you encounter technical problems, the ELFI service team is available to help. Alternatively, you may also contact Unit 1.1 Research Services and Research Funding Management for technical assistance, usage support, or any other questions: klein[at]uni-wuppertal.de
We also regularly offer information sessions and training courses that focus entirely or partly on finding funding opportunities using ELFI. Please keep an eye on the announcements for our event series ´Forschungsförderung KOMPAKT’ and ‘Forschungsförderung PRAKTISCH’ , or check the events calendar.
