Healthcare in transition: DGGÖ Annual Conference 2026 at the University of Wuppertal
The two-day conference will focus on topics such as digitalisation and artificial intelligence, health inequalities, prevention and long-term care, health economic evaluation as well as reform issues and international perspectives. The scientific programme includes numerous parallel lecture sessions, poster sessions and workshops and reflects the thematic and methodological diversity of the discipline.
International impulses in the opening plenary session
The conference will kick off on Monday morning with an opening plenary session featuring a keynote speech by Professor Jeffrey Braithwaite (Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia), an internationally renowned expert in health systems research and reform processes. This will be followed on Tuesday by Prof Angela Bate and Prof Sonia Dalkin (Northumbria University, Newcastle, UK), who will shed light on current developments at the interface of implementation research, evaluation of complex care concepts and health policy.
Broad range of topics from digitalisation to healthcare research
The following topics, among others, will be discussed in the parallel sessions:
- Cost and benefit assessments in the healthcare system
- Digitalisation, e-health and digital health applications (DiGA)
- Reform of the healthcare system and regulatory issues
- Social and gender inequalities
- Prevention, mental health and long-term care
- Methodological developments in health economics
The programme will be complemented by a poster session and a closing plenary session with a science slam on Tuesday afternoon. In this format, scientists present their research in an understandable and creative way - a special highlight for participants and guests.
Exchange beyond the lecture hall
In addition to the scientific programme, the conference offers many opportunities for networking. The evening event on Monday will take place in the Historische Stadthalle Wuppertal and will provide a festive setting for personal dialogue between academics, practitioners and politicians.
