The DAAD scholarship for more equal opportunities (STIBET I)

The scholarship for more equal opportunities is aimed at international students who need support due to particular social or personal challenges during their studies. Funding is provided in particular for people who have experienced refugee flight, have a disability or chronic illness and students with family care or caring responsibilities.

Funding is provided as part of the DAAD's STIBET I programme with funds from the Federal Foreign Office. On this page you will find further information on the requirements and the application procedure.

The scholarship is aimed at international students enrolled at the University of Wuppertal (foreign students) who find themselves in a difficult study situation due to special living conditions and financial challenges.

The prerequisite is that at least one of the following criteria is met

  • Experience of flight
  • Disability (at least 50%) or chronic illness
  • Caring for a minor child in your own household
  • Caring for relatives in the first or second degree

Please note that dual nationals with German citizenship and exchange students are not eligible for funding.

The following documents must be submitted:

  • current certificate of enrolment
  • current overview of grades
  • Curriculum vitae in tabular form
  • Justification of the application (incl. description of special life circumstances and financial situation)
  • Suitable proof of the specified criteria (e.g. refugee status, disability or chronic illness, proof of childcare or caring for relatives)

 

The funding period is between three and six months. The funding amount is 500 euros per month.

*The awarding of scholarships is subject to the availability of funding. There is no legal entitlement to funding.
