International Bakery: Pizza Night with International Students
The "International Bakery - Pizza Night" was more than just a cooking evening - it was a true celebration of international exchange.
As soon as everyone entered the kitchen, the smell of fresh dough, tomato sauce and herbs filled the air. Students from different countries came together - some already knew each other, while others were meeting for the first time. Still, the atmosphere was relaxed, open and welcoming from the very beginning. Together, we prepared the dough, rolled it out and got creative with the toppings.
From classic Italian-style pizza with mozzarella and basil to more unique combinations inspired by different home countries, there was something for everyone. It was especially beautiful to see how each participant brought a piece of their own culture into the kitchen - through ingredients, spices, or stories from back home.
While the first pizzas were baking in the oven, conversations started flowing naturally. There was laughter, curiosity, and lots of tasting along the way. Language barriers hardly mattered - flour in the air and tomato sauce on your hands seem to be a universal language. When the homemade pizzas finally came out of the oven, golden and crispy, everyone gathered around the table to share, try, and exchange feedback - which was overwhelmingly positive. What started as a simple cooking activity quickly turned into a meaningful intercultural experience.
The Pizza Night showed us that sometimes all it takes is dough, tomato sauce, and openness to create new friendships.
We are already looking forward to the next International Bakery event!
