The Green Zoo Wuppertal incl. guided tour
As part of our excursion, we visited the Wuppertal Green Zoo and were given a fascinating insight into the diverse tasks of a modern zoo during a guided tour in English. In addition to the keeping and care of the animals, we learnt in particular about the important role zoos play today in species and nature conservation as well as in research and environmental education.
The information on the international species conservation projects that the zoo supports was particularly interesting. Another highlight of the visit was the famous penguin house with its underwater acrylic tunnel, which provided unique insights into the behaviour of the animals. Here we were able to observe the animals from an unusual perspective and experience their underwater behaviour up close.
The excursion made it clear that Wuppertal Green Zoo is much more than just a place to observe animals. As a modern nature, research and species conservation centre, it makes an important contribution to the preservation of endangered species and at the same time promotes awareness of our shared responsibility towards nature.
