The Bergische University will kick off the events on Tuesday, 13 October, from 11.30 am to 2.30 pm with an action day against discrimination and sexual violence in the library courtyard on the Grifflenberg campus. Various counselling and support services will be presenting themselves around the TILDA counselling bus run by FrauenBeratung Wuppertal. Information and creative activities will encourage visitors to engage with the issues of discrimination and sexual violence and to find out about the support available. No registration is required.

How do we respond when we encounter sexism?

On Wednesday 14 October, from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm, the focus will be on how we can deal with sexist and queerphobic comments in everyday life. FrauenBeratung Wuppertal and kubiq – Raum für queere Bildung are offering a training session on effective argumentation at Inside:Out – the queer centre in Wuppertal e. V. Using specific everyday situations as examples, we’ll explore different ways of arguing and responding. The aim isn’t to find the one ‘correct’ answer for every situation. Instead, the focus is on the questions: How can I take a stand? How can I show solidarity with those affected? And how can I remain capable of taking action even in difficult situations? Reading by author and podcaster Rebekka Endler

The action week will conclude on Thursday 15 October at 6.30 pm with a reading by the author and journalist Rebekka Endler at the Färberei Wuppertal. In her book *Witches, Bitches, It-Girls: How Patriarchal Myths Continue to Shape Us Today*, Endler embarks on an anecdotal journey through history and the present day. She highlights which misogynistic myths persist, how they shape societal perceptions of women, and why patriarchal notions keep cropping up even in supposedly modern narratives. During the reading, there will be an opportunity to talk to the author. No booking is required.
