Wuppertal’s Action Week against Sexism came to a successful close on 15 October with a well-attended reading and discussion at the Färberei. Around 140 attendees joined author Rebekka Endler on a journey through her book *Witches, Bitches, It-Girls* that was as entertaining as it was thought-provoking. The focus was on patriarchal myths and gender stereotypes that have persisted for centuries and continue to shape our everyday lives to this day. Among other things, the discussion explored who determines what is considered ‘normal’, how social power dynamics influence our perceptions, and why even supposedly modern narratives perpetuate outdated gender roles.

The event on 13 October at the Grifflenberg Campus was well attended, despite the rainy weather. Numerous students took the opportunity to speak to various counselling and support services. Alongside the university’s own anti-discrimination office, the North Rhine-Westphalia reporting centres were also represented as a group: MEDAR, DINA, MIRa and MIQ (see info box for further details). The focus was on information about discrimination, sexualised violence and specific support options. A bag-spraying activity provided a creative way to get involved.

The debate skills training session on 14 October, organised by FrauenBeratung Wuppertal in collaboration with kubiq – Raum für queere Bildung, also attracted a great deal of interest. The workshop on dealing with sexist and queerphobic remarks was fully booked.

The action week was organised jointly by the Equality and Diversity Unit at the University of Wuppertal, FrauenBeratung Wuppertal e. V. and the Equality and Anti-Discrimination Unit of the City of Wuppertal.
