Choosing a degree programme made easy: University of Wuppertal’s orientation weeks have begun

22.06.2026|07:37 Uhr

Have you finished your A-levels, are you keeping an eye on the application deadline, and do you still have questions about choosing a degree programme? The university of Wuppertal supports prospective students in choosing the right degree programme through its orientation weeks. Until mid-July, the central student guidance and counselling services are offering the chance to sit in on lectures, take part in campus tours, attend workshops and information sessions, and have one-to-one counselling sessions.

The A-level exams are over, your holiday is booked and you’ve got some time off ahead – this is exactly the right time to sort out your university place. Perhaps your gap year has just come to an end? That’s also a good time to find out more about studying. Until mid-July – the deadline for applications to degree programmes with restricted admission – the central student guidance and counselling services (ZSB) are offering a comprehensive range of information and advice to help you make your decision: the Orientation Weeks.

Here, prospective students can, for example, attend lectures, take part in campus tours or join the digital online workshop ‘A-levels – and then what?’. They can also attend consultation sessions (in person on campus; by telephone or online via Zoom) to discuss any questions they may have about studying with the student advisers (see the info box for more details).

There are also various information sessions, including on topics such as funding your studies and studying abroad. The next dates for the information session ‘How do I apply correctly? – Tips on enrolment, applications and getting started at the University of Wuppertal’ are:

  • Wednesday, 24 June, 4 pm to 6 pm (in person at the University of Wuppertal)
  • Monday, 6 July, 3 pm to 5 pm (online via Zoom)
  • Tuesday, 14 July, 4 pm to 6 pm (in person at the University of Wuppertal)

All in-person sessions will take place at the Grifflenberg campus, Gaußstr. 20, 42119 Wuppertal, Building B, Room B.06.01. For the Zoom session on 6 July, registration by email to studienorientierung[at]uni-wuppertal.de is required by 28 June.

Make the best decision with ZSB

That is why prospective students should not miss the orientation weeks, says Dr Christine Hummel, Head of the central student guidance and counselling services:

“It’s well worth coming to our orientation weeks because we have a wealth of information on subjects and degree programmes, as well as on how prospective students can apply for their dream course. There’s a lot of information available online, but we bring it all together to provide a clear overview. To help prospective students make a good and suitable choice of degree programme, they are welcome to come and speak to us in person. Together, we’ll work out what suits them, what they’re good at, and what will lead to the right degree programme and, of course, the career that follows. And we’ll also work together to dispel any doubts and uncertainties.”
