17.08.2026|10:25 Uhr

With the start of the 2026/27 winter semester, the registration period for the ‘Studying in Later Life’ programme at the university of Wuppertal begins. Anyone wishing to find out more about the programme and learn about academic continuing education for older adults will have two opportunities to do so in September. The Centre for Continuing Education (ZWB) and the Association for the Promotion of Study in Later Life at the University of Wuppertal (vfsa) are hosting two events.

The series kicks off on Wednesday 2 September with an information event at the Citykirche Elberfeld. To begin with, professor Detlef Sack will give a talk entitled ‘Between Old Democracy and Autocracy: The Space for Political Confidence’, discussing current political developments whilst also providing insights into research and teaching at the University of Wuppertal. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity for discussion and to find out more about the programme for mature students. Staff from the ZWB and the vfsa will be on hand to answer questions about study options, entry requirements and the range of courses on offer.

A further information day will take place on Wednesday 30 September at the Grifflenberg campus. Following a guided tour of the campus and lunch, the ZWB will provide information on the study programme for older adults and the options for visiting students.

The programme for older learners enables participants to attend lectures and seminars without the aim of obtaining a degree. It is aimed at people who wish to further their academic education, gain new perspectives and engage with current social, cultural and academic topics. Both events offer the opportunity to find out more about the programme without any obligation and to prepare for starting in the winter semester.
