IZWT Colloquium

International perspectives on science and technology

The Interdisciplinary Centre for Science and Technology Studies (IZWT) at the University of Wuppertal is once again hosting its colloquium in the 2026 summer semester. In the lecture series, international researchers will address current issues and developments in science and technology studies.

Anne Sudrow (Humboldt University Berlin) will kick things off on Wednesday, 17 June with a lecture on the topic "Heil Kräuter Kulturen. Ecological Landabu, Naturopathy and SS Terror on the Agricultural Experimental Farms of Dachau Concentration Camp". The lectures start every Wednesday at 4.30 pm in room K.12.20 on the Grifflenberg campus (Building K, Gaußstr. 20).

  • 24 June: Maren Behrensen (University of Twente, Enschede, Netherlands): "From Reproduction to Hallucination: Walter Benjamin's Artwork Essay and Contemporary Fascist Epistemologies"
  • 1 July: Jakob Ortmann (University of Hanover): "On Doing Things with Science: Political and Epistemic Controversies about 'Performativity of Science'"
  • 8 July: Pierre Verschueren (Université Marie et Louis Pasteur. Besançon, France): "What's in a Doctorate? Doctoral Dissertations and Professional Standards in the French Faculties of Letters and Sciences (1810-1968)"
