09.09.2025|15:05 Uhr

What does industrial policy have to do with microplastics in the blood? How can your municipality make climate protection palatable? And did you know that existing facades have superpowers? These and other research questions will be addressed by young scientists on 18 November 2025 from 6 p.m. at the future Pina Bausch Centre at the SUSTAINABILITY Science Slam Vol. 2, organised by the University of Wuppertal together with the Wuppertal Institute.

After a successful launch in 2023, the format is entering the next round and includes new, exciting topics. Together, the University of Wuppertal, the Pina Bausch Centre "under construction" and the Wuppertal Institute are bringing sustainability research to the stage. From circular economy to industrial policy and electrostatics to building physics - at the Science Slam, young scientists transform complex content into vivid, entertaining and lively stories with an "aha" effect.

All speakers have ten minutes to do this and are allowed to be creative when communicating their topics: Visualisations, props and performance interludes are encouraged. At the end of the evening, the audience chooses the best presentation.

The Science Slam is a science communication format in which research projects are presented in a completely different way in short, popular science presentations. In addition to the scientific value of the research results, the aim is to present them in a pointed, entertaining and understandable way. At the Science Slam, science leaves the ivory tower and becomes part of pop culture.

The event will take place at the future Pina Bausch Centre, Bundesallee 260 in Wuppertal. Participation is free of charge.
