12.12.2025|11:30 Uhr

How can municipal climate policy in Wuppertal and Solingen be fair? The "Climate, social justice and acceptance" project team at the University of Wuppertal has been researching this. The team is combining the public presentation of its findings on 18 December with an open discussion. Invited are citizens and organisers, especially from the cities of Solingen and Wuppertal, as well as anyone interested in municipal climate policy. The discussion (from 4.15 pm) and the presentation of the results (from 6.15 pm) will take place in the Grifflenberg campus, dining hall ME, Max-Horkheimer-Straße 15, at the University of Wuppertal.

As part of the "Climate, social justice and acceptance" (KasA) project funded by the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, researchers from the Department of Sociology at the University of Wuppertal investigated how municipal climate protection and climate adaptation policies are shaped in the cities of Wuppertal and Solingen, how the media report on them and how households affected by poverty in particular perceive these measures.

The aim was to develop practical recommendations for action for a socially just and accepted municipal climate policy. At the final presentation, the project team will present the insights the project has gained along the way, what the recommendations look like and how they should be taken forward.
