How we can adapt to climate change

Germany is in the midst of climate change, as demonstrated by numerous extreme natural events. Here in Germany alone, drought, heavy rainfall and flooding cause billions of euros in damage and, tragically, fatalities every year. Many climate adaptation initiatives have therefore been launched and are currently being implemented.
National and international measures and solutions will be presented at the conference. In eight presentations from the interdisciplinary network, participants will explore the following questions:
- How can networks be used to meet the current challenges?
- Where can we learn from each other?
- And how can we shape a climate-adapted future?
Prof Dr Birgitta Wolff, Rector of the University of Wuppertal, will be represented. She will talk about "Shaping the future ecologically and socially". In addition, Prof Dr Andreas Schlenkhoff, Head of the Department of Water Management and Hydraulic Engineering, will ask "Innovative approaches from science?" in his lecture.
Other topics include "Insurance requirements in times of climate change", "Data-driven climate impact adaptation in the Wupper catchment area" and "Best practice for climate-adapted construction and housing in the future".
