Check university emails now: Survey on the reality of students' lives launched

Over one million students at more than 200 German higher education institutions and universities are currently invited to take part in the second nationwide online survey "The Student Survey". The survey will run until August 2025 and students will receive invitations and reminders by email in the next few days.

Students at the University of Wuppertal were invited to take part in the survey for the first time last Tuesday (10 June). The email contained a personalised link to the survey as well as an access code that allows the survey to be saved temporarily and completed in several parts. Two further reminders followed, each with the personalised access data.

"With their answers, students support politics, science and universities in uncovering problems in everyday student life, making potential for improvement visible and strengthening study conditions overall," explain those responsible for the survey at the German Centre for Higher Education Research and Science Studies.

The student survey in Germany provides comprehensive data on the reality of students' lives - from social and economic conditions to study progress and conditions, political attitudes and educational pathways. It also allows differentiated analyses of smaller groups, such as students with children, with health impairments or without a school-leaving qualification for higher education. Good responses can also provide meaningful data, for example for the development of degree programmes and for a Germany-wide comparison of universities.

University of Wuppertal students who have not received an invitation to take part in the survey by email or who require further information can contact the University of Wuppertal's Central Quality Officer Eva Mangieri at mangieri[at]uni-wuppertal.de.
