Industrial design: more than just beautiful things

How do we move through the city? How do we make work safer and more efficient? How do we develop products that make everyday life easier? Industrial design deals with questions that are directly linked to our lives - and searches for innovative answers. The semester exhibition of the Industrial Design degree programme at the University of Wuppertal provides an insight into this design process. Works from all phases of the degree programme are presented: from artistic basics to fully developed projects. Visitors can see how ideas develop - from initial sketches and models to prototypes and product concepts.
The topics range from mobility and health to everyday products and socially relevant issues. The master's project, which deals with digital participation for senior citizens, sets a special accent - a topic that shows how design and research can open up new perspectives together.
The exhibition makes it clear that industrial design is much more than just "designing beautiful things". "It combines creativity with technology, research and responsibility," say the organisers. It invites visitors to get to know design as a future-oriented discipline - and to engage in dialogue with students and lecturers. Prospective students are also very welcome.
