Black ice warning: Information for travelling to the university

11.01.2026|16:40 Uhr

Black ice due to freezing rain is possible in parts of North Rhine-Westphalia on the morning of 12 January 2026. This may also affect travel to the University of Wuppertal and is expected to last until lunchtime. All lecturers are therefore asked to offer courses digitally until 12 noon. The university management asks all students, employees and guests to carefully check the weather and traffic situation and to adjust their journey accordingly. As an employee, please use the option of mobile working in consultation with your supervisor if necessary. Further information can be found below.

Please avoid unnecessary risks: If in doubt, come to the university later if the road and pavement conditions allow it safely, even if this is delayed until midday.

The University of Wuppertal's winter road clearance service is working to clear and grit the central paths and areas on campus as quickly as possible. Nevertheless, there may be slippery patches, especially in the early morning and mid-morning hours. Therefore, please move carefully on campus and use the cleared paths where possible.
