Biodiversity Day

Guided tour through the plant system of Bergische Uni

20.05.2025|10:50 Uhr

To mark Biodiversity Day, there will be a guided tour of the plant system in the courtyard of Building V on the Grifflenberg campus of the University of Wuppertal on Thursday, 22 May at 5 pm. The aim is to provide an insight into botanical biodiversity and draw attention to the diversity of plants.

Which plant group does the water lily belong to, what are its characteristics and which plant is it particularly close to? Answers to these questions and exciting information on the development of land plants can be found on the guided tour of the plant system at University of Wuppertal // Photo Gertrud Lohaus

The plant system contains the systematic groups into which plant species are categorised and makes their relationships visible. Sounds boring? Not at all! Because it shows how land plants have developed over the last 500 million years and the immense diversity that exists.

The guided tour is led by Prof Dr Gertrud Lohaus from the Botany working group.

Information on the plant system in the inner courtyard can also be found at www.botanik.uni-wuppertal.de. Registration is not required.

The meeting point is at the entrance in front of building VW on the Grifflenberg campus, Gaußstraße 20.
