Matthias Jacob is particularly committed to the topic of building quality in planning, implementation and operation, as well as interdisciplinary exchange for quality optimisation in projects. He has been intensively involved with the sustainability aspects of property since 2005. He is also interested in the gradual optimisation of processes to increase efficiency in the construction industry, in particular the introduction and further development of Building Information Modelling (BIM) - the digitalisation of the construction value chain.

In addition to his membership of the advisory board of the Wuppertal Master's degree programme Real Estate Management and Construction Project Management (REM + CPM), he has been a lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering at the University of Wuppertal for 15 years. In his lectures, he and his students focus on topics relating to corporate management in the construction industry. The main topics include corporate goals and philosophies, the basics of strategic corporate management and marketing methods for construction companies. He also lectures at various German universities and specialist conferences.

Matthias Jacob has been active in the construction industry since 1987 following his studies, doctorate and university work at TU Dortmund University. Among other things, he has held various management positions. Since 2019, he has been Country President Germany of the Swiss construction and property services provider Implenia, where he is responsible for the German building construction business. Jacob is also Vice President of Building Construction at the German Construction Industry Federation, Chairman of the German Concrete and Construction Technology Association and Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of planen-bauen 4.0, which was founded in February 2015.
