Climate crisis, populism, social inequality: the challenges of our time require innovative approaches to communicating about sustainability - especially in politics. The Humboldt School, from 3 to 5 September 2025 at TU Dortmund University, offers young researchers from North Rhine-Westphalian universities a platform to exchange ideas on this pressing topic, develop new perspectives and explore synergies between different disciplines. Interested doctoral candidates and postdocs are invited to apply with a poster by 15 July.

How can scientific findings be convincingly incorporated into political processes? Which narrative, visual and strategic means are suitable for promoting awareness of sustainability aspects, even beyond purely environmental issues? Under the title "Sustainability and its communication: strategies between science and politics", interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches for the effective communication of sustainability will be developed and perspectives, limits and methods will be discussed over the three days of the event.

The Humboldtn School is aimed at doctoral students and postdocs from all disciplines at a university in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Interested doctoral students and postdocs are invited to apply with a DIN A0 poster. The application must be sent as a PDF (max. 10 MB) to info[at]humboldt-n.nrw by 15 July . The poster should present current research and demonstrate the relevance of the work to the topic of sustainability communication.

We are looking for contributions from all disciplines that can provide new impulses for the dialogue on sustainability - from the environmental sciences to the various humanities and social sciences. Successful applicants will be notified by 1 August.

Further information, including the desired poster format and programme, can be found on the Humboldtn website.
