Great success for the University of Wuppertal: the team from the Chair of High Frequency Systems in Communication Technology (IHCT), headed by Prof Dr Ullrich R. Pfeiffer, received two awards at the European Microwave Week (EuMW 2025) in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The award-winning research work was carried out in collaboration with the Leibniz Institute for Innovative Microelectronics (IHP).

Hamadi Sadkaoui, Philipp Hillger, Janusz Grzyb, Xinpeng Du, Marcel Andree, Holger Rücker and Ullrich R. Pfeiffer were honoured with the EuMIC Prize during the event. The prize recognises particularly innovative, technically sophisticated or pioneering scientific work presented at the EuMIC conference. It is considered one of the most important European awards in the field of microwave and terahertz circuit technology.

The EuMC Young Engineer Prize was also awarded to the work of Arjith Chandra-Prabhu, Janusz Grzyb, Marcel Andree, Zhichu Cao, Holger Rücker and Ullrich R. Pfeiffer. This award recognises particularly outstanding contributions by young scientists in the field of microwave, high-frequency and terahertz technology.

Prof Pfeiffer also gave a lecture in Utrecht entitled "Next-Gen Terahertz SoCs: Light-Field Imaging and Scalable Incoherent Architectures". In it, he highlighted current challenges in bridging the so-called THz gap and presented new approaches for coherent and incoherent THz system-on-chip architectures that will enable future applications in high-speed communication, imaging and sensor technology.

The European Microwave Week (EuMW) is one of the world's leading conferences in the field of radio frequency, microwave and terahertz technologies and brings together scientists, engineers and industry experts from all over the world every year.
