Stadtradeln, the Climate Alliance's competition for climate protection and better cycle paths, is starting for the eighth time in Wuppertal. After a successful third place in 2024, the University of Wuppertal team is taking part again this year and is calling for participation.

For three weeks, from 24 May to 13 June, Wuppertal is getting on its bike and collecting kilometres for climate protection and a bicycle-friendly infrastructure. Administration, politics, schools, companies and clubs form their own teams and compete to cycle the most kilometres. In 2024, 95 cyclists took part in the "Uni Wuppertal" team and achieved third place in the city's overall ranking with 18,068 kilometres. To build on this success, we are looking for new team members.

All students, employees and friends of the university are invited to join the BUW city cycling team. Occasional cyclists are just as welcome as competitive cyclists. Every kilometre cycled is counted, whether on the way to university, to the train station or on a bike tour, regardless of whether the route is covered in Wuppertal, Cologne or on holiday in France.

You can register for city cycling and join the "Uni Wuppertal" team via the following link: https://www.stadtradeln.de/index.php?id=171&L=0&team_preselect=9273.

The kilometres collected can be entered manually in your personal profile or automatically via the city cycling app. There will be a whole series of activities in Wuppertal around the city cycling event - the kick-off event on 24 May, the ice cream parlour tour and Critical Mass on 3 and 6 June and finally the final cycling event on 13 June. Anyone who registers for the city cycling team will receive up-to-date information via the e-mail distribution list. The Rocket Chat is available for team members to exchange information: #Radmobilitaet.BUW.

Team captain Thomas Herrmann and the entire university team are looking forward to many new participants and three wonderful weeks of city cycling together.
