Travelling to Wuppertal during the railway modernisation 2026 Deutsche Bahn improves its infrastructure.

From February to July 2026, extensive modernisation works on the railway network between Hagen, Wuppertal and Cologne will lead to significant disruptions to rail services. Long-distance trains will not stop in Wuppertal, and many regional services will be replaced by buses. During certain periods, all rail traffic in Wuppertal will be suspended entirely.

 

Due to extensive modernisation work on the rail network between Hagen, Wuppertal and Cologne, no long-distance trains will be able to stop in Wuppertal between 6 February to 10 July 2026.
In addition, the RE 7 and RB 48, among others, will be replaced by buses during this period.

6 February to 20 February 2026
20 March to 3 April 2026
15 May to 12 June 2026

there will be no rail services in Wuppertal. During this period, all regional trains and S-Bahn services will be replaced by buses and express buses.

The Wuppertal Hauptbahnhof stop will be at the Historische Stadthalle for all replacement bus lines (with the exception of bus line RE 4).
