The DAAD Prize, endowed with EUR 1,000, helps to give our international students and doctoral candidates a face and emphasises their importance in their bridging function between Germany and the world - this is of inestimable value, especially in an increasingly complex and tense global situation.
The DAAD Prize is open to foreign students who are enrolled at the University of Wuppertal and are at an advanced stage of their Bachelor's (at least 2nd year) or Master's degree programme (at least 2nd semester). Young graduates and doctoral candidates can also be nominated. It should be noted that this is not a research prize and that the DAAD Prize is not intended to honour a doctoral thesis.
Foreign students are students and doctoral candidates with foreign citizenship who have obtained their higher education entrance qualification (HZB) for their first degree or doctorate in Germany abroad. A Bachelor's degree from a German university does not mean that a person with a first foreign HZB is no longer a Bildungsausländer. (Contact for queries regarding the HZB of potential candidates: Andrea Bieck, Head of the International Office; Tel.: 439 2181; e-mail: bieck[at]uni-wuppertal.de). Young graduates are students and doctoral candidates who graduated no more than three months ago at the time of selection.
Members of the University are requested to submit nominations in electronic form to the Vice-Rector for Third Mission and International Affairs via the International Centre(icenter[at]uni-wuppertal.de) with a short (max. half a page) acknowledgement including details of nationality and, in the case of students, an additional account statement showing their matriculation number, degree programme, semester and average grade. Self-nominations are not possible.
The deadline for submission is 31 October 2025
The DAAD Prize is sponsored by: German Academic Exchange Service and Federal Foreign Office
