- Short joint physical group mobility (5-30 days) combined with virtual phase (before, during or after mobility) of undefined duration
- For students (SM) and university staff (STT)
- Minimum of 15 participants for eligibility (excluding teaching and training staff involved in programme implementation)
- Minimum: 3 universities from 3 different programme countries (including DE; excluding UK and Switzerland)
- Funding: Organisational Support (BIP-OS) for BIP, short-term mobility from "regular" mobility funds, the relevant funding criteria apply
- BIP-OS for at least 15, maximum 20 mobile learning participants (additional participants possible)
- for students at least 3 ECTS for the entire activity; for other learning participants, a workload equivalent to 3 ECTS should be taken into account
The physical activity can be carried out at the host university or at any other location in the country of the host university, e.g. in companies, non-governmental organisations, research institutes, associations or public corporations.
The following documents must be kept for quality assurance purposes:
- funding applications for key action 131
- bilateral interinstitutional agreements
- Grant agreements for a Key Action 131 project
- Documentation of the Key Action 131 project in the Beneficiary Module (as soon as available)
- Interim reports and feedback letters from the NA DAAD
- Final reports and feedback letters from the NA DAAD
Students who are enrolled at a university and university staff who have a contractual relationship with the university can be funded as learners for a blended intensive programme. Selection criteria for participation in mobility activities and blended intensive programmes are determined by the sending higher education institution. A minimum of 15 people (not including teaching and training staff involved in the programme implementation) must participate for the programme to be eligible for funding. A maximum number of 60 participants per blended intensive programme is given as a guideline; there is no upper limit. Funding for the organisation of the BIP can be approved for 15-20 participants.
These OS funds are intended to cover the start-up, development, implementation and monitoring costs of the BIP. Furthermore, the funds support the virtual implementation and management of the programme. Funding is also available for the creation of documents and teaching materials, room bookings, material procurement, the organisation of excursions, communication measures, translations and interpreting, preparatory visits and administrative activities.
Bilateral inter-institutional agreements between the participating institutions of the Blended Intensive Programme are mandatory. The bilateral inter-institutional agreements must be available at least in digital form. This also applies to all other forms of blended mobility - both in the area of student mobility and in the area of teacher mobility.
The formalisation of a BIP through the conclusion of a multilateral interinstitutional agreement is not mandatory.
A template for inter-institutional agreements can be found here: Inter-institutional Agreement
The host university decides whether the participant must be enrolled.
The minimum amount of study required to be eligible for funding is 3 ECTS.
The minimum number of learners should always be 15 according to the rules of the programme guide. If some of the 15 participants cannot physically participate in a BIP due to force majeure (e.g. Covid), it is possible to participate virtually. In this case, the coordinating higher education institution will receive the BIP-OS, even if the participants are not funded for physical mobility.
Coordinating higher education institution:
- receives and manages BIP-OS funds
- is by default the receiving higher education institution
- can also be the sending higher education institution (if the receiving higher education institution is another BIP higher education institution)
- can act as the coordinating HEI and have no other role (if other partner HEIs
- partner universities take on the role of both the receiving and the sending university).
- university)
- must ensure that it has sufficient resources together with the partner HEIs
- only one higher education institution can be the coordinating institution
Host higher education institution:
- this higher education institution receives the BIP participants either at its premises or at another venue1 in the same country in which it is located
Sending higher education institution:
- any higher education institution from the partnership (programme country)
- applies for mobile BIP participants via their overall application (SM, ST)
- Invited staff can come from any organisation in the programme countries
- the coordinating organisation can also be a sending organisation if the venue for the face-to-face phase is in another country
Co-hosting organisation:
- This organisation can be a company, association or public institution (in the same country) as well as a higher education institution hosting participants for practical training as part of the programme.
Participants from partner countries can take part in a BIP, but are not counted as BIP participants. Each higher education institution participating in a BIP must fulfil one of the roles mentioned above!
- the BIP takes place at the same time and in the same physical location for all participants
- must be located in a programme country
- can also be any other university involved in the BIP
- or an external partner, such as a research centre or a private company (= "co-hosting"). The partner must be part of the BIP.
Timing: before, during or after physical mobility
- Collaborative online learning, exchange and teamwork
- simultaneous completion of tasks that are part of the BIP and contribute to the achievement of learning outcomes
- virtual component does not count towards the mobility quota of individuals (12 months)
- No financial support
- No specified duration
- The host university decides whether the participant must be enrolled.
- The minimum amount of study to be eligible for funding is 3 ECTS.
