At the centre is the question of how two research paradigms relate to each other, which significantly shape the public and scientific discourse on childhood - but at the same time repel and relate to each other in a specific way. The starting point is the fundamental realisation that childhood is always socially constituted and therefore cannot be understood without its political, social and economic conditions.
The volume is divided into three main thematic areas - theory, politics and practice - and contains contributions on topics such as "Childhood, politics, society - an attempt to (re)gain a political epistemology of (childhood) education", "Childhood research and critical childhood education under the conditions of neoliberal capitalism" and "Childhood, democracy, education".
