EU funding programmes

What does the EU offer? For example:

  • Numerous programmes for international collaborative research
  • Open-topic funding lines for individual researchers or small consortia in basic research
  • Strategic partnerships and mobility programmes
  • Programmes that promote knowledge transfer and cooperation with non-academic partners, within the region or across borders

BUW researchers are frequently involved in these programmes:

  • EU research and innovation funding programme Horizon 2020 (funding period 2014-2020) and Horizon Europe (2021-2027)
  • European Regional Development Fund (ERDF.NRW programme)
  • Erasmus+

Important information on how to apply for Horizon Europe:

Applications are submitted directly via the calls for proposals on the EU portal. You can find the link to the portal here. You will also find work programmes, templates and other relevant documents in the respective call for proposals.

Should you not yet be registered on the portal, please refer to this link for further information on how to register.

Each application must include the BUW PIC (Participant Identification Code). The BUW PIC is: 999858735

Erasmus+:

The PIC 999858735 also applies to Erasmus+ applications. Access to the portal: here.

The BUW's EU liaison officers will provide assistance with the application and project implementation process: This includes assistance with searching for suitable programmes, informing you about important conditions (e.g. composition of the consortium, reference to EU policy objectives), calculating your budget, applying via the portal and providing further contacts at (or outside) the BUW, as well as any necessary letters of support. We will also be happy to read your application and give you feedback.

Should your proposal be selected for funding we will assist you during the grant preparation phase and with administrative, financial and legal aspects of project implementation.
