Research Projects
The University of Wuppertal engages in a wide spectrum of research activities. This is evident in the numerous national and international research projects in which UW academics and scientists participate.
The financial situation of German universities makes the acquisition of additional external funding an essential element of research activities. Major sources of funding are:
- Ministries – e.g. Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF)
- German Research Foundation (DFG)
- European Commission
- Companies
Research is teamwork. This applies not only to university cooperations but also to the transfer of knowledge and skills from the university to business, industry and culture. Astroparticle physics, construction technology, IT, road and transportation planning, telecommunications and environmental technology are among the many fields at UW where collaboration is intense.
